Faluda

Dentists, look away now: faluda is a sugar-hit, Muslim drink (or dessert) that’s super popular in Sri Lanka. It’s basically a refreshing rose-and-vanilla-flavoured milkshake, made with a bonkers medley of rose syrup, vermicelli, sweet basil seeds, kasa-kasa (poppy seeds), jelly and milk; sometimes it’s served with ice-cream and nuts, too. Faluda is believed to originally hail from Iran; try it at one of Sri Lanka’s characterful Bombay sweet shops.
