The Jungle Farmers’ Experience
Slow Travel in Sri Lanka

‘Unforgettable!’ ‘Humbling!’ ‘Inspiring!’ These are just a few of the words from our guests who have walked through village roads to spend time at this jungle farmer’s humble abode.
Slow travel is for those who don’t need to conquer the mountain to enjoy life around it.
Meet a jungle farmer in Anuradhapura who has eked out a life from toiling on his land. It’s a beautiful land bordering a lake and his home is made of wattle and daub. His wife works equally hard. His two kids help out in the fields after they begin their studies at the crack of dawn and help to fetch water from the well. The people you will meet here are smiley, friendly, happy and inspiring.
Walk through village roads, learning about local lifestyles. Find out how this inspiring family protects their crops from wild animals and hear all about their basic farming techniques. A cooking experience called ‘Flavours of Sri Lanka’ will give you an insight into the spices of the island – some grown on the farmer’s land. During this al fresco cookery experience, learn how rural Sri Lankans cook with firewood to bring out a special flavour. This farm-to-table experience ends with a beautiful outdoor lunch in the company of this amazing family.
This is slow travel at its best.
