Udawalawe National Park

For more elephant experiences, go on a wildlife adventure in Udawalawe, on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces, a two-hour drive south of the Nuwara Eliya and Ella tea-growing regions. The park has a dramatic mix of landscapes: soaring highlands, bushlands and grass forests; it’s also one of the world’s best places to spot elephants in the wild. Feel your heart melt at the Elephant Transit Centre, a 15-minute drive away, which tends to injured and orphaned elephants. Time your visit to coincide with feeding time for maximum aaahs.
