Sri Lanka doesn’t hold back when it comes to liquid thrills. Start in Bentota, on the scenic southwest coast, which is a prime spot for watersports: wakeboarding, water skiing, windsurfing, banana rides, jet skiing, canoeing and surfing, for starters. Want to take things up a notch? Head to west Sri Lanka and try kitesurfing in Negombo or white-water rafting in Kitulgala; you’ll set off on an adrenaline-pumping ride down the Kelani River, accompanied by expert rafters. Alternatively, slow the pace by getting up early and going deep-sea fishing in Bentota, whose waters are rich in fish. For more marine encounters, try scuba diving in Unawatuna in southern Sri Lanka, where jewel-coloured corals and fish await.
